Description

Do you love songwriting and pop music? Do you love choral music as well? If you are like me, I love both of these worlds and am very excited to present a new consortium arranging my original song "Ok Again" for SATB choir. I wrote the lyrics for "Ok Again" in 2022 as a message of comfort and hope that I needed to hear myself. During stressful times, I always love hearing someone say "it will be ok". I wanted to put this feeling into my song and think it will also inspire choral singers and audiences as well. I will arrange it for SATB and Piano, maintaining a lot of the rhythmic drive and subtle dissonances while still being very accessible harmonically. Since I teach classes in and am an advocate for both Songwriting and Choral Composition, I believe it is important to bring these two worlds together more often. As part of my consortium package, I will include a 45-minute visit with each choir where I will talk about songwriting and choral music. I am happy to try to visit local Los Angeles-based choirs in person, and can also do Zoom digital visits for non-LA choirs. I hope you and your choirs can join this project combining popular songwriting styles and choral music! Lyrics

Ok Again (Amy Gordon - 2022)

VERSE 1
Trying my best to believe
Trying hard to see
The light at the end of the tunnel
There’s got to be a way to get out of this trouble

PRE-CHORUS
It’s hard
But it’s a start
It’s dark
But there’s a spark

CHORUS 1
Tell me we’ll be
ok ok ok ok again
Tell me that we
Will find a way to find a way again

VERSE 2
Trying my best to dream
It’s kinda hard half asleep
But there’s light from the dawn out my window
There’s got to be a way to get out of this limbo

PRE-CHORUS
It’s hard
But here’s my heart
It’s dark
but there’s a spark

CHORUS 2
Tell me we’ll be
ok ok ok ok ok again
Tell me that we
Will find a way to find a way again

BRIDGE
It feels the darkest
Before the dawn
You feel the farthest
When you’re spot on
We can make it
if you say it
Need you to speak up
and say it’s
Ok ok ok ok again

FINAL CHORUS
Tell me we’ll be
ok ok ok ok ok again
Tell me that we
Will find a way to find a way again

POST-CHORUS

Tell me we’ll be
Ok ok ok ok again (2x)
