Description

A setting of ancient Roman poet Gaius Valerius Catullus' Carmen XLIX.

Lyrics

Carmen XLVIII:

Mellitos oculos tuos, Iuventi,
si quis me sinat usque basiare,
usque ad milia basiem trecenta
nec numquam videar satur futurus,
non si densior aridis aristis
sit nostrae seges osculationis.

Gaius Valerius Catullus (circa 84-54 B. C. E.)

About Melika M. Fitzhugh

My name is Mel, and I am a composer and multi-era multi-instrumentalist who loves to write new music for historical instruments, as well as play music from many time periods and countries. I say that I like to "travel through time" by way of the music I play and write: music from the Trecento, Ars Subtilior to modern, rock, jazz, blues, world folk (esp. Balkan); on and for somewhat "forgotten" instruments like the vihuella, curtal, chest organ, or shruti, in addition to recorder, harpsichord and modern orchestral instruments.
